A woman died in an incident that the Chesapeake Police Department is looking into after her car was discovered in a lake.

On Tuesday, December 19 at around 11:13 p.m., police said they received a complaint regarding a car in a lake close to the intersection of Hillcrest Parkway and Edinburgh Parkway.

When the police and fire departments got there, they found the car in the lake. Upon their arrival at the scene, the Chesapeake Police Underwater Search and Recovery Team also discovered an adult female inside the vehicle.

After being taken to a nearby hospital, the woman passed away from her injuries.

The victim was identified by family and friends as Kylie Nicole Dorsman. Kylie attended Radford University and was a graduate of Hickory High School in Chesapeake, Virginia.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Chesapeake police.
