In 1976, John returned to Gallatin High School as the head football coach, a position he held until 1993. During his tenure, he formed strong bonds with the community and witnessed unwavering support from the administration, dedicated coaching staff, and passionate athletes. Under his guidance, the Green Wave achieved remarkable success, boasting an overall record of 205-30 and making six appearances in the state championships.
